Bronx-born Robert "Bobby" Garcia was inspired to enter public service after the turbulent events of the late 1960s. He saw politics as "the art of the possible"... finding common ground with others for the benefit of everyday people and to inspire young people to enter public service and empower their communities.
…To remember a public servant dedicated to his neighbors in the Bronx, to the people of New York State and as a pioneering representative of Hispanic Americans nationwide, whose many achievements include founding CHCI, the inclusion of “Hispanic” in the 1980 Census and the bi-partisan legislation that created the Kemp-Garcia Enterprise Zones.
…To help ensure that Bob’s immediate vindication will not have been in the courts alone, but also in the even more important court of public opinion, inspiring generations to come.
…To help support the educational documentary film on his life. Our project has other elements, but none more important in 2024. Help us give our Hispanic community and young people a hero...
Together with the University of Houston's Arte Publico Press, we've published Bob's autobiography...
so a documentary film is next!
Images and video have become the preferred way for us to consume information. Bob’s autobiography will serve as the basis for a made-for-tv documentary in order to reach future generations of leaders, especially those interested in public service.
The support to date has allowed us to contract an experienced, award-winning, producer of documentaries to tell Bob’s pioneering story, Veronica Caicedo. A treatment and a $500,000 budget have been developed and we aspire to have the documentary broadcast during Hispanic Heritage month each year. To this end we will also apply for all relevant grants for such projects and offer the documentary film to the broadcast and/or cable media offering the widest targeted viewership.
SEE THE TRAILER NOW!
We have experienced directors, a documentary production company, a trailer, and are looking for foundations, corporations and others to help fund Bob’s documentary film, receiving producer credit in the film.
You, your company or organization can make a tax-deductible donation here to help make this long-overdue documentary film a reality this year, especially if your company has a "matching gifts" program, where your gift is doubled. Please check with your HR Department.
